A Bitter Red Pill

Record labels have a very strong voice when it comes to arguing for their particular business model, which is in fact out of date. The result is that laws [like SOPA, PIPA and ACTA] have been created which make out as if the only problem on the internet is teenagers stealing music. The world is bigger than that. The internet is bigger than the music industry. The economic impact of the internet is bigger than the music industry.

- Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the Internet)

1) The digital tsunami that swept over the Capitol last month [regarding SOPA] … raised questions about how the democratic process functions in the digital age.

2) Those who count on ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake … Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake.
